“The combination of music in my earbuds and the flow of colors on the canvas unlocked a peace I couldn’t find anywhere else.”

In 2022, my wife Julie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of stage 3 breast cancer, a journey that took me places I never could have imagined, including in front of an easel with a paint brush in my hand.

As a stay-at-home dad of three, I was very familiar with paint, but hadn’t painted anything myself since I was a kid.

Soon enough, I found myself in the attic, at the window with a view of the Atlantic. The waves swirled. The wind whipped up whitecaps in the distance.

I set up the easel, put on a playlist of my favorite songs, and painted. The combination of music in my earbuds and the flow of colors on the canvas unlocked a peace I couldn’t find anywhere else.

In December 2023, I launched Studio Wavelength. My paintings are ocean-inspired abstract oil + acrylic on canvas. They’ve been on display at Talise Restaurant in Gloucester, MA and The Moakley Courthouse in Boston.

I continue to paint, donating 10% of the proceeds from each piece sold to Know Your Lemons, a foundation where Julie served as a board member.

I'm forever inspired by Julie and my three incredible kids - David, Ryan, and Clare, whose curiosity and love for the ocean, much like their mom’s, fuels me every single day.
